Sauna for sale near me: where to see one in person
Most saunas are bought online and delivered by freight, but if you want to sit in one first, these are the places that exist in most of the US:
- Sunlighten showrooms. The only premium infrared brand with its own showrooms, in a few dozen metro areas. Check Sunlighten for the locator.
- Costco. Sells Almost Heaven cedar barrels and Golden Designs (Dynamic) infrared cabins, online and sometimes on the floor in larger warehouses. Costco's return policy is the most generous you'll find on a sauna.
- Home Depot, Lowe's, Sam's Club. Budget infrared cabins (Dynamic, Maxxus, SunRay) online with store pickup; rarely displayed in store.
- Hot tub and pool dealers. Many carry Finnleo, Finlandia, Helo or Harvia traditional saunas and a line of infrared. Search "hot tub dealer" plus your city; call and ask what sauna brands they display.
- Sauna builders. In the upper Midwest, Pacific Northwest and New England, local companies build custom traditional saunas and often have a demo unit.
- Gyms, spas and bathhouses. The cheapest way to feel traditional heat before buying. A $30 day pass answers "do I like this?" better than any showroom.
Once you've decided, prices are almost always lower buying direct from the brand online; see online vs in person.
Brands sold through retailers rather than direct
These don't run their own affiliate or direct store, so they're not scored above, but they're widely available and some are excellent:
- Almost Heaven Saunas: American-made cedar barrels since 1977; also sold at Costco. Buy direct or through retailers.
- Finnmark Designs: Full-spectrum infrared with a strong warranty. Available through Topture.
- SaunaLife: Estonian-built traditional saunas with a lifetime limited warranty. Available through Topture.
- Dundalk LeisureCraft: Canadian cedar barrels and cabins. Available through Topture.
- Golden Designs (Dynamic, Maxxus): Budget infrared saunas sold at Costco, Sam's Club and Home Depot.
- Medical Saunas: Large catalog of infrared and traditional saunas; 3-year warranty.
- Finnleo: Long-running traditional sauna brand sold through local dealers.
- Sisu Saunas: Ohio-built cedar barrels (the Edwin seats up to 8). Sold through Rogue, Titan and others.
- Royal Saunas: Budget infrared cabins and Harvia-heated barrels sold on Wayfair; no brand website or published warranty.
- Harvia: The Finnish heater maker behind most good traditional saunas; sells through dealers.
Multi-brand retailer Topture carries Finnmark, SaunaLife, Dundalk and others with bundled shipping.
Before you buy
Three things that catch people: the heater isn't always included on barrel kits, 240V models need an electrician ($300-$1,500), and "lifetime" warranties usually have a number of years in the fine print. Our 43 buying questions page covers all of it in a sentence each, and how to buy a sauna is the full checklist.
