How we score saunas

Every brand gets a heat score out of 100, built from four measures. The same formula applies to everyone, and money can't change it.

MeasureWeightHow we score it
Value30%Price against what you get: heat range, materials, features such as red light or app control, and what's included.
Reviews25%The brand's average customer rating, doubled to a 10-point scale. We subtract 0.7 if there are fewer than 100 reviews and 1.2 if fewer than 30, because small samples are less reliable.
Warranty25%Lifetime coverage including heaters scores 10; 7 years about 8.5; 5 years 7.5; 3 years 6; 2 years 5; 1 year 3.5. Fine print that limits coverage lowers the score.
Operating history20%30+ years scores 10; 20-29 years 9; 10-19 years 8; 5-9 years 6.5; under 5 years 5.

Missing information

If a brand doesn't publish its warranty, founding year or a public review score, that measure gets a low default (4 or 5 out of 10) and we say so on the brand's page. When the brand publishes it, the score goes up. This rewards transparency.

Where the data comes from

Brand websites, warranty documents, Trustpilot and BBB review pages, affiliate network listings and independent reviews. We recheck data regularly and show the date on every page.

Sponsored placements

A brand can pay for one sponsored spot above our rankings. It's always labeled "Sponsored," it sits outside the ranked list, and it has no effect on any score or ranking. Read our disclosure.
